Tragic Iran Bus Crash Claims Lives
The recent Iran bus crash has brought profound grief to Pakistan, as 28 Pakistani pilgrims lost their lives in a devastating accident. The tragedy unfolded when a bus carrying these pilgrims veered off course in Iran, resulting in a significant loss of life and numerous injuries. This tragic incident has garnered attention both in Pakistan and internationally, highlighting the need for compassionate response and support for the affected families.
Sindh Government’s Compassionate Response
In the wake of the Iran bus crash, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a generous compensation package for the victims. Each legal heir of the deceased will receive Rs5 million, while the injured victims will be compensated with Rs1 million each. This financial support is intended to provide some relief to the families who have been deeply affected by this tragic event.
Repatriation of Victims
The repatriation process for the victims of the Iran bus crash was conducted with meticulous care. According to an official handout, the bodies of the 28 deceased pilgrims and 15 of the 25 injured individuals, who had been discharged from hospitals, were returned to Pakistan. A special C-130 aircraft was used to transport the bodies, landing at Shahbaz Airport in Jacobabad.
Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh, also the provincial government’s spokesperson, detailed the tragic event. Among the deceased, 10 were from Larkana, three each from Kamber-Shahdadkot and Karachi, six from Kashmore, four from Khairpur, and one each from Dadu and Jamshoro. The injured came from various districts, including eight from Larkana, five from Kamber-Shahdadkot, and others from Khairpur, Dadu, and beyond.
Support and Arrangements for Families
To facilitate the families of the victims, the Sindh provincial government arranged for extensive support. Over 40 Rescue 1122 ambulances were present at Jacobabad Airport to assist with the repatriation. The injured were transferred to hospitals in their respective districts, with those in severe condition being airlifted to Karachi for specialized treatment.
The funeral prayers for the deceased were conducted at Yazd Airport, with notable figures in attendance, including a representative of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Yazd Governor Mehran Fatemi, Deputy Governor Abdul Husseni, and Pakistan Ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu. This show of solidarity emphasized the international and local support extended to the victims’ families.
